Begin with the tools you actually need
List the tasks, their frequency and the equipment suited to them. Only then compare battery platforms. A large catalogue is not an advantage if it encourages purchases for jobs you do not have.
Keep tool suitability separate from battery convenience. One shared charger does not make every tool in a range appropriate for your site or operator.
Confirm compatibility precisely
Ask the manufacturer or supplier which batteries and chargers are approved for each proposed tool. Record the exact product references. Similar branding, nominal voltage or a physically matching connector does not establish an approved combination.
Do not plan around unapproved adaptors or rebuilt packs. Include genuine compatible replacements and the support available for them in the cost comparison.
Treat runtime claims as conditional
Ask what workload, settings and battery were used for a quoted runtime. Compare those conditions with your intended tasks. A light-duty demonstration does not establish how long a battery will last in a different job.
Plan charging and spare capacity using supported information and experience. Include pauses, travel and other work in the day, but do not assume a battery will recharge in a particular time without the relevant specifications.
Plan charging and storage
Follow the manufacturers' instructions and arrange a suitable location. Keep chargers uncovered and follow advice on battery condition and temperatures. London Fire Brigade's batteries and chargers guidance provides useful general fire-safety background.
Obtain competent advice for electrical installations or workshop arrangements. A tool purchase does not establish that an existing socket, extension arrangement or shed is suitable.
Compare the complete package
Include batteries, chargers, replacement costs, storage and service support. Identify what comes in each kit so a bare-tool price is not compared with a complete system.
Review the choice after actual use before expanding the collection. The practical advantage of a platform comes from confirmed compatibility and useful tools, not loyalty to a logo.
