A matching connector is not enough
Start with the exact tractor and attachment models and their manuals. Ask the attachment supplier to identify the hydraulic requirements for the proposed version. Keep each requirement with a source document rather than treating a photograph of connectors as a compatibility check.
This is a purchasing-information guide. It does not provide connection, adjustment, repair or pressure-testing instructions.
Request a written requirements list
Ask the supplier which flow, pressure, return arrangements and controls the attachment requires, and which figures are maximums or minimums. Record the units. Ask them to explain any additional circuit or return requirement in terms your tractor supplier can confirm.
Give that list to the tractor supplier and request confirmation of the actual machine's configuration. An optional hydraulic installation shown in a brochure may not be fitted to a used tractor.
Price the complete installation
Ask whether the quoted attachment includes the suitable hoses, controls and components for the confirmed combination. Establish who selects, installs and checks any additional equipment. Keep separately sourced components visible in the quotation so responsibility is clear.
Do not improvise adaptors or assume that reducing a setting makes an unapproved arrangement suitable. Refer unresolved questions to a competent supplier.
Include maintenance and support
Ask for the correct manuals, inspection arrangements and training. Find out who to contact if a hose, coupling or control is damaged, and how the machine should be taken out of use pending assessment.
HSE's high-pressure fluid guidance explains why hydraulic faults require serious attention. Never use a hand to search for a leak; obtain competent help and follow the machine-specific safe procedure.
Close the enquiry with evidence
Keep a record showing the attachment requirements, the tractor's confirmed provision, necessary modifications and the person responsible for establishing suitability. A completed purchase file should explain the combination being supplied, rather than leave you to reconcile two incompatible manuals after delivery.
